Community Garden Workday Successful

Thanks to all who came out and helped put the 2012 gardening season to bed!  We weeded, cleared the Acord Bed, made great progress on the fence (now 95% complete), and built 7 more raised beds for 2013.   In November we'll be adding Sulfur to al the beds to lower the pH, which is a bit high according to a recent Soil Test from UMass.

Gardeners - stay tuned for a survey about your experience this year.

Others - you can sign up now to be on the waiting list for next year.  Look for the 'I'm Interested Survey' on the Community Garden tab of our webpage.

Thanks for a super inaugural season - and a big thanks to Chris LaPointe and the Hamilton-Wenham Land Trust, and to Cam McNall of HW Green who led the fence project.

Looking forward to a great 2013 season!

Community Garden Buildout Day a Huge Success!
30 Raised Beds were built and filled with compost; paths were
covered with wood chips, and a good time was had by all.
Thanks to Chiropractor Jerry Gould for the live music!

Thanks to Brick Ends Farm for donating the compost, and to business sponsors Jolie Tea, Corliss Brothers, Grassy Roots, and Timeless Interiors.
Grant Support from New England Grassroots Environmental Fund and New England Biolabs.
And of course the Hamilton Wenham Open Land Trust - without them none of this would be possible!

Hamilton Wenham Community Garden Project!

Hamilton Wenham GREEN, in partnership with The Hamilton Wenham Open Land Trust, is Creating a Community Garden next to Pingree Park in Wenham.

We held a Garden Build-Out day on April 28, with 30 volunteers building raised beds, filling them with compost, and spreading woodchips. Still to come are a fence, picnic table, water spigots, signs, and a shed for shared tools.

As of May 2 we're nearly full up for this year's garden, which will have 30 raised beds, each 4 feet wide and 12 feet long.  We have room to grow - if there is adequate demand, we'll build more raised beds next year.  Cast your vote by filling out the survey below.

If you'd like to know more about this garden, please take the I’M INTERESTED SURVEY.  This will  sign you up for our Community Garden e-mail list.
